1. Who we are

Timecode Transcript (timecodedtranscript.com) is run by Zehong Liu, an independent developer. You can reach us at support@timecodedtranscript.com.

2. The service

Timecode Transcript transcribes audio and video files with automatic speech recognition and adds timecodes. The first 10 minutes of up to 3 files a day can be transcribed free. Free use may be paused on days of very high demand; packs keep working.

Transcripts are made by an automatic speech recognition model and are not checked by a person. They contain mistakes, especially with noisy audio, music, strong accents, overlapping speech, names and numbers. Now and then the model also adds words that were never spoken, most often during silence or music. Timecodes come from the model’s word timings and can be off by a fraction of a second. A transcript from this service is not a certified or verbatim record. Check it against the recording before you rely on it, and have a qualified person review it before you use it for legal, medical, financial or other decisions where a mistake could cause harm.

3. Your recordings

We claim no rights in the files you upload or in the transcripts made from them. You give us permission to process each file only to transcribe it and return the text to you.

You are responsible for what you upload. Upload a recording only if it was made lawfully, you are allowed to share it with a transcription service, and transcribing it does not infringe anyone’s rights. In particular:

• In some places, including California, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Washington in the United States, recording a private conversation is lawful only if everyone taking part agreed to it.
• A recording usually contains personal information about the people who speak in it. If you upload it for an organisation, the organisation decides why it is transcribed, and we process it on the organisation’s behalf only to return the transcript.
• A transcript of a film, a broadcast, a podcast or another work you do not own may need the permission of whoever owns the rights.

Do not upload recordings that were obtained by hacking or other unlawful interception, or content that sexualises minors. We do not keep your audio or transcripts, so we do not review them, but we may block access that breaks these rules.

4. Minute packs

A pack is a one-time digital purchase of transcription minutes. The price and the number of minutes are shown before you pay. Minutes are used by the length of audio transcribed, rounded up to the next whole minute per file; parts that cannot be transcribed are not counted. There is no subscription: nothing renews.

Minutes from a pack can be used for 12 months from the date you bought it. Each purchase has its own date, shown under “Your minutes”. Minutes are always taken from your oldest purchase first. Minutes still unused after 12 months expire and are not refunded, except as described in the refund policy. If we close the service, we will announce it on this site at least 30 days before, and refund the unused minutes of any purchase that has not expired to the original payment method; if that is no longer possible, we will contact you at the email address on your order to arrange another way.

Delivery is immediate: the minutes are added to your wallet code as soon as the payment is confirmed.

Your minutes are held on a wallet code, not in an account. Keep the code private: anyone who has it can use the minutes on it, and we cannot tell who is using it. We are not responsible for minutes used by someone who had your code. If you lose the code, you can recover it with the email address and order number from your Waffo receipt. If you think someone else has your code, write to us from the email address you paid with and we will help. Minutes already used cannot be restored.

Minutes can be used only on this site. They have no cash value, can be turned back into money only through a refund under the refund policy, and may not be sold or offered as a gift card.

You must be 18 or older to buy a pack; Waffo’s buyer terms require this.

5. Payment and merchant of record

Packs are sold to you by Waffo Pancake, a service of Waffo.com Limited, a company in Hong Kong (“Waffo”). Waffo is the merchant of record: it buys the right to resell each pack from us and sells it to you, runs the checkout, takes the payment, works out and pays any sales tax or VAT that applies, and issues your receipt. Your receipt names the Waffo company that sold to you, and the charge appears on your card statement under a name that starts with WAFFO. Waffo’s own buyer terms and privacy policy apply to the payment. Everything else about the service and your minutes comes from us.

6. Refunds

Unused minutes are refunded within 14 days of purchase, for any reason, as described in the refund policy. When a purchase is refunded, its unused minutes are removed from your wallet code.

In the EU and the UK, you have a legal right to cancel a purchase within 14 days. When you buy a pack, you ask us to make the minutes available at once, so that you can start using them during those 14 days. If you cancel within the 14 days, you get back the price of the minutes you have not used and pay only for the minutes you used. Our 14-day refund of unused minutes gives you this, for any reason.

7. Fair use

Do not try to get around the free limits or the payment system, send automated requests that put unusual load on the service, or upload content that is illegal. We may block access that does these things. If we block a wallet code, we refund its unused minutes, unless they were bought with a card that was not yours or through other fraud.

8. Liability

If the service does not work as described and we cannot fix it, you can have a refund under the refund policy. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for packs in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Purchases are governed by the terms in force when you bought the pack.
